Welcome / Call to Worship / Prayer

Call and Prayer:

God of grace and glory, you call to the whole earth from east to west, from north to south!
You gather your faithful people to you, those who have made a covenant with you.

Fill us with your light which guides our paths;
touch lives with mystery and hope
that we may be made over in the image of
your Son Jesus Christ, transformed into your likeness.
As we share this ministry may we share your blessing.
Amen.

Prayers of the People

 Confessions
 Assurance of Forgiveness
 Prayers of Concern
 Prayers of Gratitude

 The Lord’s Prayer:

Give us this day
      our daily bread,
And forgive us
      our trespasses
      as we forgive those who
      trespass against us.
And lead us not
      into temptation,
      but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
      and the power
      and the glory forever. Amen.

Offering:

Take note of the ways to give:  Our time, our gifts and talents, our worship and praise, our service in church and community, and our monetary gifts.  During this pandemic, please remember the church still pays minimal staff and building expenses, so keep the church in mind for your giving.
For monetary offerings:

  • checks sent to CUMC, P.O. Box 417, Chehalis, WA  98532.
  • Cash, of course, would have to be brought to the church office (in an envelope, please) during office hours (Tues 10AM to 4PM; Wed-Thur, 10-1:00)
  • On the DONATE page of this website find a link to our giving site, using a debit or credit card, or your own PayPal account.
  • Bill-payer:  Some prefer to use their own bank’s bill-payerand set an automatic monthly amount. (We like this one!)

This week:

ASH WEDNESDAY
Feb 17, 6:30 pm

Since Feb 17 is actually ASH WEDNESDAY – We will have a few moments to acknowledge the day, and impose ashes at the beginning of our regular 6:30 Wednesday night Bible Study.  Those who come for this portion, are invited to stay to begin the Bible Study with us, but are also welcome to leave to other activities as they feel the need.

PLEASE BRING to the zoom meeting: A small slip of paper to write on with pencil, a ceramic or glass bowl and match or lighter to light the paper to make the ashes. A bit of lotion or oil to dip you finger in before dipping into the ashes, will be helpful.

Use this link: https://greaternw.zoom.us/j/93573921173 or the alternate methods of connecting to zoom – the same as for the Bible Study below

Wednesday Night Bible Study
6:45-8:00 pm

following 6:30 Ash Wed. imposition of ashes (same zoom)

Beginning WEDNESDAY NIGHT THIS WEEK is our Lenten Study: “The Last Week” by Marcus Borg and John Crossan.

This book follows the Gospel of Mark rendering of the Last Week of Jesus’ life (and death and life), in a day-by account of that Final Week, which takes place in Jerusalem – starting with Palm Sunday. Please read the preface and First Chapter before the Feb 17 session.

The Book is available on Amazon – used books are around $8 including the shipping.

Here is the link to use to join the ZOOM BIBLE STUDY on an internet enabled device, smartphone or computer - https://greaternw.zoom.us/j/93573921173 - We will be able to screen share, and if there is a video see it together, so calling in without video gives you less advantage, though you could still hear the video, and would be welcome to listen in.
