Welcome and Call to Worship
(Based on Isaiah 40)
Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
Have you not heard that
God is with us today?
Have you not heard that
God is with us all the time?
Have you not heard that
God is in the snow,
the rain, the ice,
the trees that are bare,
the wind?
Have you not heard that God is with us when we laugh,
when we cry, when we sleep, and when we are awake?
Have you not known?
Have you not heard that God is with us when we are alone
and when we are with friends?
Have you not known these things?
Prayer
God of all mercy,
Give us grace to make a fresh start today and every day.
We know we have not loved you with our whole heart,
nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves.
As we hope to be forgiven, teach us also to forgive;
and lead us forward in a new life where neither
grudges nor resentment have a part;
where pain and sadness no longer hold us;
and where joy revisits us again and again.
O God, we have seen and we have heard – you are forever with us!
You are with us wherever we go in all the journeys of our life.
Thanks be to you, our God of faithfulness! Amen

The Lord’s Prayer
Give us this day
our daily bread,
And forgive us
our trespasses
as we forgive those who
trespass against us.
And lead us not
into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.

Wednesday Night Bible Study
6:30-7:30 pm
We are finishing our study “The Way: Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus” in which we begin each lesson with a video set in an appropriate place in the Holy Land, and follow Jesus to these places. The focus is on the life and teachings of Jesus, drawing on history, archaeology, and the geography of the Holy Land.
Preparing for each week:
February 10 – Chapter 5 – Sinners, Outcast and the Poor (Samaria) THIS IS THE LAST WEEK WE WILL USE THIS BOOK. (Though for a “preview” of the next segment, you could read chapter 6, along with the Palm Sunday chapter in the next book (below).
Beginning on February 17 we will start our Lenten Study: “The Last Week” by Marcus Borg and John Crossan.
This book follows the Gospel of Mark rendering of the Last Week of Jesus’ life (and death and life), in a day-by account of that Final Week, which takes place in Jerusalem – starting with Palm Sunday. Please read the preface and First Chapter before the Feb 17 session.
The Book is available on Amazon – used books are around $8 including the shipping.
Since Feb 17 is actually ASH WEDNESDAY – We will also have a few moments to acknowledge the day, and impose ashes. Those who come for this portion, are invited to stay to begin the Bible Study with us, but are also welcome to leave to other activities as they feel led.
Here is the link to use to join the ZOOM BIBLE STUDY on an internet enabled device, smartphone or computer - https://greaternw.zoom.us/j/93573921173 - We will be able to screen share if there is a video, so calling in without video gives you less advantage, though you could still hear the video, and would be welcome to listen in.
