Welcome and Call to Worship

Pastor Karla

Opening Prayer

We thank you, O God,
for calling us into your
church to be your people.
We have gathered,
God of grace and wisdom,
because we have
 heard your call.
You have reached out to
 us in Jesus Christ,
you have touched us with your Spirit;
and we have turned toward you,
seeking to love as we have been loved.

We call upon your holy name:
empower us to worship and serve you,
 walking gently on this earth,
through the grace of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prayers of the People

AFTER THESE PRAYERS WERE RECORDED, NEWS CAME EARLY THIS MORNING THAT LOLA T. HAS COVID-19. PLEASE, ADD A PRAYER FOR HER AND HER FAMILY WHERE SHE LIVES IN OLYMPIA – THEY ARE QUARENTINED IN SEPARATE AREAS FROM EACH OTHER.

 Prayers of Gratitude
 Prayers of Concern

 The Lord’s Prayer

Give us this day
      our daily bread,
And forgive us
      our trespasses
      as we forgive those who
      trespass against us.
And lead us not
      into temptation,
      but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
      and the power
      and the glory forever. Amen.

Offering:

Take note of the ways to give:  Our time, our gifts and talents, our worship and praise, our service in church and community, and our monetary gifts.  During this pandemic, please remember the church still pays minimal staff and building expenses, so keep the church in mind for your giving.
For monetary offerings:

  • checks sent to CUMC, P.O. Box 417, Chehalis, WA  98532.
  • Cash, of course, would have to be brought to the church office (in an envelope, please) during office hours (Tues 10AM to 4PM; Wed-Thur, 10-1:00)
  • On the DONATE page of this website find a link to our giving site, using a debit or credit card, or your own PayPal account.
  • Bill-payer:  Some prefer to use their own bank’s bill-payer and set an automatic monthly amount. (We like this one!)

Benediction

Go with dreams filling your heads,
and courage surging through your soul.
Go to live out the unity we seek.
Go to live the equality we share.
Go in the power of the Spirit of God.
Keep firm in the hope God has set before us,
that we, and all God’s children, shall be free,
and the whole earth will live to praise God’s name.

Postlude/Closing Hymn

            Pass it On
            United Methodist Hymnal #572

Lyrics and Music: Kurt Kaiser Copyright © 1969 Bud John Songs (ASCAP)

CCLI #1397620

It only takes a spark
to get a fire going
And soon all those around
can warm up to its glowing
That’s how it is with God’s love
Once you’ve experienced it
You spread His love
 to everyone
You want to pass it on

What a wondrous time is spring
when all the trees are budding
The birds begin to sing,
the flowers start their blooming
That’s how it is with God’s love
Once you’ve experienced it
You want to sing,
it’s fresh like spring
You want to pass it on

I wish for you, my friend,
 this happiness that I’ve found
You can depend on Him
It matters not where you’re bound
I’ll shout it from the mountain top
I want the world to know
The Lord of love has come to me
I want to pass it on

…I’ll shout it from the mountain top
I want the world to know
The Lord of love has come to me I want to pass it on

Go in peace, beloved of the Lord!
Thanks be to God!
