WHAT’S HAPPENING the next few weeks in WORSHIP?

Upcoming Sundays at Chehalis UMC:

      • 11:00 AM – This is the time for morning worship on Sundays, Fall through Spring.
      • Faithlink Class is at 9:30 – a contemporary topics discussion group, relating current events to Bible and church tradition, etc.  (Faithlink class ends the Sunday before Memorial Weekend, and will resume again in September.)
      • Childcare is still provided during worship and during adult class times thru age 5.
      • Kid Zone, age 5 -12,  follows the children’s sermon in worship each Sunday.  (Kid Zone will end for the summer as the SUMMER schedule takes over on June 16.)
      • If you read the scriptures during the week before, you probably have read ahead of time the scripture being used in worship, and can be better prepared. 

May 5 – 3rd Sunday of Easter

  • 11:00 Worship
  • CHANCEL CHOIR
  • COMMUNION
  • Scriptures:  Acts 9:1-20;  Psalm 30;  Rev 5:11-14;  John 21:1-19 

         (Jesus appears to 7 disciples on the beach at daybreak – He says to Peter, “Feed My Sheep.”)

May 12 – 4th Sunday of Easter – Good Shepherd, also Mother’s Day

  • 11:00 Worship
  • MOTHERS DAY CELEBRATED bring a photo of your mother, or another important mother figure to you.  We will share these in a special display.
  • BLANKET SUNDAY – A special offering is taken for Church World Service blankets ($10 each).  On this Mothers Day, we “blanket the world with love.”
  • CHANCEL CHOIR
  • Scriptures:   Acts 9:36-43;  Psalm 23;  Revelation 7:9-17;  John 10:22-30  “My sheep hear my voice.”

May 19 – 5th Sunday of Easter

  • 11:00 Worship
  • CHANCEL CHOIR
  • Scriptures:  Acts 11:1-18;  Psalm 148;  Revelation 21:1-6; John 13:31-38          (Jesus gives a new commandment to the disciples.)

May 26 – 6th Sunday of Easter

  • 11:00 Worship  (NO Faithlink Class today or for rest of summer)
  • Ron Grant, Lay Pastor at Pe Ell, will be preaching while Pastor Karla is at her annual family reunion.
  • CHANCEL CHOIR 
  • Scriptures:  Acts 16:9-15; Psalm 67; Revelation 21:10, 22 – 22:5; John 14:29       (Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit, and tells them “Do not let your hearts be troubled…” – When there is a guest preacher, we cannot guarantee that the selected scriptures will be the focus of the service and sermon.)

June 2 – 7th Sunday of Easter/Ascension of the Lord

  • 11:00 Worship  (Pastor Karla is preaching)
  • CHANCEL CHOIR
  • COMMUNION
  • Scriptures:  Acts 16:16-34; Ps 97; Rev 22:12-14,16-17, 20-21; John 17:20-26   (Jesus prays that “they may be one.”)
  • Scriptures for Ascension:  Acts 1:1-11; Psalm 47 or 93; Ephesians 1:15-23;  Luke 24:44-53

June 9 – Pentecost Sunday

  • 11:00 Worship
  • Dr. Mark Fredericksen, will be preaching while Pastor Karla is in Puyallup at the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference.  (Yes, it’s her spouse, who was ordained and served as a Pastor for several years before becoming a naturopath.)
  • LAST SUNDAY FOR THE CHANCEL CHOIR till Fall.
  • PENTECOST CELEBRATIONWear red!
  • Scriptures:  Acts 2:1-21;  Psalm 104:24-34, 35b;  Romans 8:14-17;  John 14:8-17 (25-27)    (The Holy Spirit comes in flame and wind, and an outpouring of tongues!)

June 16 – 1st Sunday after Pentecost/Trinity Sunday, also Father’s Day

SUMMER SCHEDULE BEGINS IN FULL!

  • 10:00 Worship (Pastor Karla is preaching) – First Sunday of the SUMMER SCHEDULE
  • FATHER’S DAY celebratedbring a photo of your Father or another important Father figure to you.  We will share these in a special display.
  • Scriptures:   Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31; Psalm 8; Romans 5:1-5; John 16 12-15;   A celebration of the many facets in which we welcome the presence of God.

 June 16 until September 15 – SUMMER SUNDAY SCHEDULE is in effect:

                    NO Faithlink class or Kid Zone
                    10:00 AM WORSHIP TIME!

                      Sunday evening CrossOver Study will continue on every other week schedule as usual.
