The following are worship plans for the Sunday Worship Services at Chehalis United Methodist.

June 4 – “The Spirit Outpoured” – Acts 2:1-18

  • A CELEBRATION OF PENTECOST!! – Happy Birthday, Church!
  • CHANCEL CHOIR

Sermon Teaser:  When God spirit breathes, something creative always happens!  Any Jew would recognize the wind and the flame as God’s spirit being manifest on that Pentecost Sunday – The spirit was not born on that day, but was present from the time of creation.  It was the church of Jesus Christ that was born that day because Jesus had sent the breath of God, the Holy Spirit to ignite a new ministry among his disciples!

How will God breathe on us today?  Will we catch the flame!  Feel the wind!  Be renewed?  Hallelujah!  With the help of God.

June 11 – AFRICA SUNDAY and CHOIR SUNDAY

  • OFFERING FOR JAMAA LETU ORPHANAGES WILL BE TAKEN
  • CHANCEL CHOIR’S LAST SUNDAY:  “Siyahamba” – an African anthem
  • LOTS OF MUSIC FROM AFRICAN SOURCES
  • HONORING OUR MUSICIANS
  • RECEPTION FOLLOW WORSHIP FOR MITCHELL MERRILL WHO IS LEAVING US AS CHOIR ACCOMPANIST

The SERMON “Ruhak versus the Tohu wa-bohu” will focus on how the Spirit of God overcomes the chaos.  From Genesis 1 before creation to our chaotic lives today, God is still creating to bring us light and life.

June 18 – Guest Preacher, David McPete – Summer Schedule Begins

  • WORSHIP BEGINS AT 10:00 AM!!
  • A CELEBRATION OF FATHERS’ DAY

It has not yet been determined as to the theme/sermon focus for this day, but Father’s Day will be celebrated, so bring your Dad or your kids!  And David will give a good sermon!  Pastor Karla will be here, having just returned from Annual Conference, she will lead worship.
