Come, Now is the Time to Worship – Doerksen

Thanks to Andrea LaBlanc for letting us use her videos for our worship
Come, Now is the Time to Worship
Words and Music:  Brian Doerksen
©1998 Vineyard Songs

Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God  (Come…)

One day every tongue will confess you are God
One day every knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains
for those who gladly choose you now.
Willingly we choose to surrender our lives
Willingly our knees will bow
With all our hearts and mind and strength,
we gladly choose you now.

Call to Worship

      Led by Mark Fredericksen

 One:  The whole world is
           God’s house, and
           you are invited to
           worship God.
           Are you ready?
All:    Yes!  We are ready!

One: God asks us to turn
            away from other
           gods that grasp for
           our attention – wealth,
           popularity, power –
           and serve God alone.
           Are you ready?
All:    Yes!  We are ready!

One: God wants us to
           help make justice
         roll down like waters,
           and righteousness
           like an ever-flowing
           stream.
           Are you ready?
All:    Yes!  We are ready!

One:   We are called to
            make a place for
            Jesus in our hearts
            and in our world,
            and to follow
            where he leads us.
           Are you ready?
All:    Yes!  We are ready!

One:   Let us worship God!

Remembering Those Who Serve

A Remembrance Affirmation

We believe God
made this world
God loves this world,
God lives in this world.

We believe God holds it
and cradles it in loving hands:
holding its pain, caring
for every memory of
every person in conflict.

We believe God loves each human being
on every side of every struggle,
who has given of themselves,
even to death, for their friends and family
and for love of country.

We believe violence breaks God’s heart;
bullets tear through God’s intent;
and war opposes God’s love.But we believe love lives longer than hatred;
God’s love longer than anger;
hope burns away at despair;
God calls to us from the violence,
and we can work in love for a better world.
So may it be.   Amen.

O thou of God and man the Son,
Thee will I cherish,  thee will I honor,
thou, my soul’s glory, joy and crown.

Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands,
robed in the blooming garb of spring:
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer,
who makes the woeful heart to sing.

Please leave payment as you pick up a book. Books may also be ordered through Cokesbury and other outlets, if we run out. At this moment (Saturday night) there is only a couple of them left!

There are 5 weeks of lessons in the book. That’s why we are starting early (Advent actually begins on November 29). We won’t meet on Thanksgiving week, or on Dec. 23, however.

Here is the link to use to join the ZOOM class on an internet enabled device, smartphone or computer - https://greaternw.zoom.us/j/93573921173 - We will be able to screen share the video with Adam Hamilton, so calling in without video is not advised (though you could still hear the video).

Prayer of Confession

      Led by Mark Fredericksen

(The video window has this prayer and the Gospel lesson on it.)

Leader:   God, we are
               inspired by the
              saints who have
              gone before us
               and who live
              among us.
People:  We confess we do
              not easily see
              ourselves in their
              company.
Leader:  We would rather
              hide from your call
              to be the best that
              we can be.
People:  We hang on to our
              worries and  our
              possessions and
              old habits.
Leader:  We confess our need
               to break free of these
              things to serve you
              with heart, soul,
              strength and mind.
People:  We are truly sorry
              and ask your
              forgiveness.

              (a moment for silent
              prayers of confession)

Leader:  Hear the good news!
              God forgives!
The Holy One helps us to
               begin anew and inspires
us to be the best we can be.
People:  Thanks and praise be to God!
              Amen!

Rev. Karla Fredericksen

In Memoriam

     Leader:   There are many noble,
gentle souls who have gone before
us in the way of faith.

     People:  Thanks be to God.

Leader:   Teachers, pastors, parents and grandparents, family members, friends, have touched us by their faith, their love, their love of life.
     People:   We are greatly blessed.

Leader:   Let us give witness to those who have upheld us in faith, and have passed into eternal bliss in the last year.

For all the Saints (O Waly Waly)
The Faith We Sing #2283
Words:
For all the saints
who’ve shone your love
in how they live,
and where they move,
for mindful women, caring men,
accept our gratitude, again.

For all the saints who loved your name, whose faith increased the savior’s fame,
who sang your songs and shared your word,
accept our gratitude, good Lord.

For all the saints who named your will,
and showed the kingdom coming still
through selfless protest, prayer, and praise,
accept the gratitude we raise.

Bless all whose will of name or love
reflects the grace of heaven above.
Though unacclaimed by earthly powers,
your life through theirs has hallowed ours.

All:      We are a community that loves music.
One:     Come and hear Christ’s good news.
All:      We are God’s community that listens to

One:     With melody, praise and prayer,
Let us worship God who is among us today.

Friendly Caller is Coming!

Be watching your mail for this month’s Friendly Caller (newsletter) – You may also view a copy during the month on the CURRENT EVENTS page of this website!

Do you hear what I hear?

Well, not yet, but the bells are warming up! Calling all bell players! Soon we’ll have bell solos, duets and trios recording especially for our worship services. If you fit that catagory, you should have gotten an email from Mary Dahlstrom inviting you to volunteer to help out. If you somehow missed it, contact her.

Listeners, get ready! Be watching our worship for some home-grown special music in the coming weeks.

Take the Census!

This is an important event and will make a difference in how federal dollars are used to support special services in our area for the next decade!   Take the census, if your haven’t already, and be sure to remind your neighbors to take it, too!  It’s not too late!
