WHAT’S HAPPENING the next few weeks in WORSHIP?

Sundays at Chehalis UMC:

  • Classes for adults are at 9:30 on Sunday morning (childcare provided).
  • Our worship starts at 11:00 am
  • Kid zone  (after the children’s sermon in worship)
  • Childcare is still provided during worship thru age 5.

The following are worship plans for the Sunday Worship Services at Chehalis United Methodist.

February 25 – Second Sunday of Lent “Take up your cross”

  • Chancel Choir

Take up your cross… we cower at the thought of suffering.  But the kind of “cross” that Jesus is talking about is not some cancer or unavoidable conflict.  He is asking us to willingly put ourselves at risk for what is right and just in the world, just as he did.  Let’s explore this topic on Sunday.

March 25 Palm/Passion Sunday

11:00 AM, “Palms to Passion” Worship

    • Dramatized readings of the passion
    • The raising of the cross
    • Via dela Rosa

Come prepared to sing palm praises and then hear the rest of the story of Jesus’ passion as it is dramatically presented with the readings.  This is an important piece of the setting for the resurrection day drama.  Please don’t miss it!

March 29 – Maundy Thursday

March 29, 6:00 PM, Last (Soup) Supper

  • Supper together
  • footwashing for those who choose to participate
  • Holy Communion

A traditional “Last Supper” with Jesus, as he washes our feet, foretells of his suffering, eats with us, communes with us.

March 30 – Good Friday

12 noon-3:00 PM, Good Friday Vigil

This is a time for meditation and prayer, as we wait with the dying Jesus.  We ask that you sign up for a time to come to the church where there will be meditation and writing materials, prayers, blessed bread and grape juice available to you to help you in your personal vigil.  These will be available in the fireside library and you may choose to pray there or in the sanctuary.

April 1 – Easter Sunday

7:00 AM – Sunrise at the front of the church

9:30 AM – Easter Egg Hunt

11:00 AM – Glorious Worship

    • A Bell Prelude
    • Voices in Bronze
    • Organ and Piano together
    • Azaleas abound in the sanctuary!
    • The resurrection of “Allelu….”
    • Chancel Choir
